Grizzly season runs from April 1st to May 31st and from October 1st to November 15th.
All of our spring grizzly bear hunting trips are conducted along thousands of miles of coast line and its river estuaries, where bears migrate after hibernation to escape the snow laden mountain valleys and alpine.
Coastal Grizzlies reach maturity at 8 to 10 years of age and will range in weight from 700 to 1,000 pounds. Both spring and fall hunts offer excellent hide quality and mature bears will typically square 8 to 10 feet with skull sizes averaging 23-26 inches. In fact, in 1980 one of the largest ever Boone & Crockett grizzly bears was harvested in our concession with an amazing skull size of 26 13/16 inches. In 2008 we were fortunate to harvest another giant bear that scored 26 11/16 inches, making it number 13 all time.
Our fall hunts are conducted along the many rivers and streams during the active salmon spawn. Bears concentrate here to fatten themselves up for their winter hibernation. A mature fall bear in his prime will often weigh 200 pounds heavier than in the spring. Grizzly bear populations in B.C. are excellent and hunting pressure is minimal due to a closely regulated harvest set by the B.C. Ministry of Environment.
