Coastal Black Bear season runs from April 1st to June 15th and from September 10th to the 13th of November.
Bears, bears & more bears, what can we say.
The southern coastal region of B.C. and Vancouver Island boasts the highest densities of black bears in North America. Endless coastline, tidal estuaries and ideal habitat created by the forest industry, coupled with virtually no resident hunting pressure has continually allowed us to put trophy animals in the record books year after year. In fact seven of the top 10 black bears ever harvested in B.C. have come from the coastal waterways and mountain ranges in and around our concession.
Hide quality is excellent during both our spring and fall hunting seasons and large mature boars can tip the scales at over 500 pounds, square 6 ½ to 7 ½ feet with skull sizes averaging 19 – 21 inches. Although the majority of the bears harvested are black, there is approximately a 20% chance of harvesting a color phase bear.
Hunts are conducted out of our custom designed welded aluminum boats, or using ATV's to access areas which have recently been logged. Our coastal black bear hunts are a relaxed paced adventure suitable for all ages and abilities with an excellent opportunity to harvest a "Once in a Lifetime" trophy.
Interior Black Bear season runs from May 1st to June 15th and from September 1st to the 30th of October.
Hunting black bear in our interior concession is a less expensive alternative to our coastal operation.
On average these bears will square around 6 feet with skulls ranging in size from 18 to 20 inches. Hide quality is excellent during both the spring and fall hunting seasons and color phase bears are harvested quite commonly. Black bear populations are high with excellent hunter success rates.
Hunts are conducted using 4x4 vehicles and ATV's to access the many clear cuts and natural meadows where the bears feed.
September hunts combine well with mule deer and the opportunity to harvest big fish eating bears also exists during peak salmon run years.
